News and Updates:
[+]New Site Layout Goes Live
posted by Jordan Richmeier
09/12/2009
WE'RE LIVE!
Well after a bit of fighting with IE's crappy css support the site is live. Some new features you may or may not have already noticed:
- News updates:
The latest News feeds from the main page will be loaded in the extra content section to the left. It is clickable and will take you straight to this page. - Script previews:
While more of a short description then a preview, the content underneath the sites main spinnerBox will cycle through available scripts and provide you with a short description. When the script is moused over on the Spinner Wheel the description for that script/widget will appear. - News Feed Icons:
Each news item now contains an icon that corresponds with its type. For instance site updates are the binoculars.

Yes the time has finally come!
A new site layout has been developed and implemented. I began this endeavor a mere 10 hours ago to this minute.
It's truly amazing what you can accomplish with insurmountable boredom and Photoshop.
I'm still debating on whether or not I want to expand the width of the layout yet or not.
It seems like a very good idea with the extra content sections on the left i may just do that before the nights end.
I'm in the process now of updating and reinserting all of the sites scripts.
Most likely by the time you see this update they will be in place and functioning. So keep on the lookup for new sections!

I've just finished documentation and creating the demo for this great script, check out the widget page HERE.
While coding in the demo I found anouther but that will probably be far harder to fix then the previous ones. This nasty little error occurs when the spinBox is nested into an element that needs to be scrolled horizontally to.
I first noticed this because my demo pages all use JTabs, which rely on a horizontal scroll animation. I'm to tired to fix the bug at the moment but the demo is fully functional so check that out at the very least.

Cleaned up most of the script. Here is a list of changes and bug fixes applied to this version:
- Removed redundancies
- Cleaned out and condensed several class methods
- Refactored class to provide smoother animation and responsivness
- Fixed loading class issue and Applied fade effects to initial load for a visually sleeker initialization
- Fixed a bug where reflections would show under the wrong icon on first load
- Wrote in comment documentation to the Full script
- Coded in new class events for more user flexibility and customization
- Added boxHeight and boxWidth options for users who have need of a fixed spin box size
- Renamed some option variables for clarity
- Rebuilt icons option object handler with mootools Hash for quicker initialization
- The addIcon method is now used exclusivly for initialization processes (I didnt really see a need to make it usable to users with the icons option)
- Renamed several class properties for clarity including: speed to extraSpeed, counter to spinSpeed, wheelSpeed to baseSpeed ect...
- IE icon images stretched
- IE Mouse Wheel spin scrolls the page
- IE icon reflection now showing
- Chrome absolute placement
By the end of tomorrow expect to see a documentation / demo page up.

Created a new graphical widget today. I'm going to insert it right above where the page content is on the site template. In it I've included some sample icons just to fill out the wheel a bit more,
3 icons for the 3 finished scripts is just not enough to really make it worth while. I'll be replacing the inactive ones later on when I start posting more documentation for other scripts.
The script I've named Spinner Box was inspired by the PBB MagicWheel found here.
Spinner box while visually close to the MagicWheel it has several key differances one for instance is the mouse spin. I've also included several Event handlers to make the script more flexible.
I used minor code fragments from the orginal MagicWheel including: spin math, icon reflection, and icon adding. everything else was built from the ground up.
I removed a lot of very unnecessary code and options
and added several very valuable ones as well as minimized the amount of CSS and HTML needed to get the widget to function correctly.
All in all I feel confident that I've managed to modify the widget enough to satisfy my coincious when I call this script my own. Credit has been given where credit is due.
Look for the documentation, download, and live demo of this script in the coming days.

I've finished documenting the Content Collapse script and have it posted with a live demo, download and demo can be found HERE.
[+]New Site Updates
posted by Jordan Richmeier
08/29/2009
I'm attempting to better my site design by giving it more color. In the near future it is likely I'll be doing a full out site make over.
I have plans drawn out to fix some of the issues with this sites layout and design. Though I'll be implementing small ideas here and there as I go,
You can expect the full site make over to happen some time after I finish updating, documenting, and creating demo's for all my existing scripts.
In addition to finishing my scripts I also want to have all the Excel pages filled along with the Excel scripts and documentation for them finished.
So in conclusion it will likely be awhile before the make over comes but small changes here and there will be rampent.
[+]New Script Project
posted by Jordan Richmeier
08/29/2009
As you can no doubt see from my main page I've already perfected my new script. Its called contentCollapse (names still up in the air) it allows you to
specify sections of collapsable content with a clickable handle to toggle the collapse. I will most likely use the code to also build an accordian script so be on the
look out for that as well.
In addition to this new script I'm also in the process of finalizing my other widgets and scripts and creating documentation pages for them. I've already finished JTabs page
and will hopefully have a working demo soon for it, I've got big plans on the table for the JTab demo including option boxes to show off the scripts flexability and possibly
on page code updating.
This means as you select off options and settings you'll be able to copy paste the Html, JavaScript, and CSS with those settings active. The project may or maynot
turn into an entire script by its self. I think people would be interested in a script that allows you to customize mootool classes and options with out having to code it them selves dont you?
These and many more updates are in the works at the moment, it will only be a matter of time. So keep checking back for new scripts and updates because after tuesday you can expect they'll be rolled out almost daily!

[+]Script Updates
posted by Jordan Richmeier
08/26/2009
At the moment the only functional script page is the ajaxEngine. Check back around tomorow evening for the documentation pages on the other
JavaScript based widgets on the projects page.
I will also be developing my own according script in the near future so be on the look out for that.
(I know I know there are already so many of these but I enjoy using my own custom built scripts on this site, it's a pride thing.)
The Excel scripts and add-ins section will also be upadated with a break down of individual scripts used by the JTools package.
You'll be able to find these and other Excel scripts on the downloads page under Projects.
[+]Revising Verbage
posted by Jordan Richmeier

Changing around the verbage of the site. At the moment it sounds more like I'm running my own independant buisness. I'd much rather it sound more like the portfolio site it was orginally ment to be.
[+]Adding Content - Continued
posted by Jordan Richmeier
07/05/2009
The services section has been finished with the exception of the Excel page (which I've hidden for the time being to give the look of a fully filled out site).
I've just started filling out more pages of the site. The scripts page is set up although the individual script pages have not been finished yet.
I plan to have at the very least the ajaxEngine documentation and demo ready for viewing by tomorrow. Its coming along slowly but surely, its also interesting that there is no one who is actually reading these updates but I like to keep busy.
These updates will likly be replaced with some much more professional sounding news items.
Next on the agenda is to have the projects section filled out by the end of tomorrow along with a new nifty block content feature that will most likely take me awhile to implement. I am really looking forward to making this site look as though
its got its own server and data base when in actuality its just a series of html pages having an ajax brawl.
The schedule to have the About Us section finished is looking to be some time early this week. After that the only things left aside from maintenance and promoting myself like a total jackass everywhere i can is for Josh to finish his Excel sections.
I will take the initiative to build the Excel script listings as i dont need him for that other then script behavior descriptions.
That said I'm actually impressing myself. The site is looking more and more professional every passing minute and to think it was only a bunch of random art in a psd file a mere 42 hours ago.
[+]Adding Content
posted by Jordan Richmeier
07/04/2009
Well I spent a little bit of time putting up some content around the site. Nothing major, Josh Richmeier will be providing content for the Excel pages later on.
In the mean time if anyone's got some scripting they need done or some web development be sure to let me know. I've got all the time in the world at the moment. I've even just finished a website template manager in Excel.
the premise is to keep the site map organized and content for each page in its own cell. That way when I update the template all I have to do is hit a macro short cut and it pieces together all the pages and updates them on my machine.
oh the bother we go through when we don't have a server or a CMS to manage site content.
[+]New Site Layout!
posted by Jordan Richmeier
07/03/2009
I have finally gotten around to redesigning my personal website.
you can still view the old crappier version at http://richmeierconsulting.webs.com/OLD/. I recommend instead burning your eyes out with small heated shards of glass.
Soon I plan to move this site to a more permanent location. Hopefully that will entail a database with Sql and Php. I've had my own CMS system in the works for some time now and would very much like to implement it.
The site is still very much under-construction. As you can plainly see by the various pages filled to the brim with Lorem Ipsum filler text.
I am sure everyone that I've egotistically linked to this page (yes, I do love to brag) is just dying to read the rest of the content written with my impeccable spelling and grammar skills. Fret not, as I am what some would call a "momma's boy". My life giver has agreed to proof read all the sites content for spelling and grammar mistakes. Needless to say she has a grand undertaking ahead of her.
Thank you Mom!
The site will mainly serve as my own personal portfolio as well as highlight some of my Brothers coding expertise. All the Excel sections of the site will have his scripts (and some of mine, but mostly his) to improve your life in the torturous spreadsheets.
The site also features both an Excel and JavaScript library, Josh and I have so affectionately come to call JTools. Both libraries will come in either their individual scripts and widgets or a package deal (Excel Add-in / JS Library).
Currently none of those are live on the site but are soon to come! Here are links to where a list of the scripts will be when I finish loading them:
Excel: http://richmeierconsulting.webs.com/docs/jtools/Excel_plugins.html
JavaScript: http://richmeierconsulting.webs.com/docs/jtools/jsWidgets.html
Currently I've only released one JS widget under the MIT license which I've dubbed the ajaxEngine. You can find its full description, documentation, and demo's Here.
I've also integrated the ajaxEngine with this site as a tribute to its flexibility and ease of use. As time progresses I will likely incorporate into this site most if not all of the widgets I've created.
